Iraq's Sunni Finance Minister Quits; Bombings Kill 5

Iraq's Sunni finance minister Friday announced his resignation in front of a crowd of Sunni protesters in western Anbar province.

Rafaie al-Esawi said he could no longer remain part of a predominantly Shi'ite government that he said is continuing to marginalize the country's Sunni minority.

Twin car bombings Friday killed at least five people and wounded dozens more at a busy livestock market in Diwaniyah province.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack in the predominantly Shi'ite area. Sunni militants have carried out a series of strikes on Shi'ite targets. Thursday, a wave of bombings in Shi'ite areas of Baghdad killed at least 22 people.

Iraq has been plagued by infighting among sectarian factions. Many Sunnis accuse Shi'ite Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki of discriminating against their community.
