As of 5:45 p.m. with around 28.4 million votes and 69% of electoral results processed, 9 from Team PNoy and 3 from the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) are in the top 12, namely:

Pollster Social Weather Stations (SWS), based on its last pre-election survey held May 2-3 or just over a week ago, said that, "Given the statistical ties, the most probable final Team PNoy-UNA score is 9-3, with twelfth place going to either Honasan or Enrile who are both from UNA."

In the May 10-11 Pulse Asia pre-election survey, it was 9 Team PNoy and 3 UNA or 10 Team PNoy and 2 UNA, with Honasan, Enrile and Jun Magsaysay of the LP fighting for the 12th and last slot.

The SWS survey of 2,400 respondents and the Pulse Asia survey of 1,800 respondents both have a margin of error of plus/minus 2%.

A total of 18,054 positions were at stake in the mid-term elections, seen as a referendum of President Aquino's performance after 3 years in office.

A total of 44,448 candidates ran for national and local posts, which include 234 seats in the House of Representatives, 80 governors and vice-governors, 1,634 mayors and vice-mayors, plus 26 posts in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).

More than 100 party-list groups ran to fill 58 seats in the lower House.

A strong majority victory for President Aquino in the Senate race would allow him to take control of the Senate, which is currently led by Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile, one of the stalwarts of UNA.

Based on recent opinion polls, Aquino still enjoys "very good" net satisfaction ratings due largely to his "daang matuwid" or good governance program.

His Liberal Party, however, does not have a strong candidate for the 2016 presidential elections who can continue Aquino's programs, unlike the UNA which has Vice-President Jejomar Binay who is well-positioned and enjoys strong support from the masses.
Aquino is barred by the Constitution from seeking re-election.

Although the Philippine economy is also doing well with 6.6% GDP growth in 2012, poverty incidence in the country has been "unchanged" since 2006 with 28% of the population still below the poverty line as of 2012.

Not enough jobs are also being created with the unemployment rate at 7%--around 2.9 million unemployed--and underemployment rate at 20% or around 7.9 million as of January 2013.
