We Chum Mey, Chum Sirath, Bou Meng (president, 1st vice-president, 2nd vice-president, respectively of the victim association Ksaem Ksan) would like to clarify for the national and international media the following:
The Victims Association of Kampuchea Democratic (Ksaem Ksan) is an association that is neutral, independent, and does notserve the interest of a politician or political party.
Ksaem Ksan is an association that was created in order to gather the voices of victims in the Extraordinary Chambers in the Courts of Cambodia to participate in demanding for justice via the law, to contribute to national unity, and to heal the psychological wounds of Khmer Rouge victims.
Therefore, the opinions and views relating to political issues of a member or a committee member of the Ksaem Ksan which have been made are solely the statements of persons in their private capacity, and should not, cannot be attributed to the policy of the Ksaem Ksan Association.
In order for a statement to be considered a policy of the Ksaem Ksan Association it must be decided by the majority of all Executive Committee members at a meeting.
On this day, 1 June 2013, the Executive Committee decided that, to be effectively immediately: Every member of Ksaem Ksan who gives an interview to the media has the duty to inform the media that their statement is a personal view.
