Cambodia National Rescue Party (CNRP) leaders Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha arrived yesterday in Helsinki for a two-day visit to Finland. They will be received today by Finnish Foreign Minister Erkki Tuomioja and other high-ranking government officials as well as Finnish members of parliament from different political parties.
Tomorrow Sam Rainsy and Kem Sokha will attend a meeting with the Cambodian community in Finland in Espoo, near Helsinki.
300 to 400 people of Khmer descent live in Finland. Famous political refugee Sok Yoeun -- whom Hun Sen persecuted in the late 1990s with the objective to target Sam Rainsy -- represents, with his 30+ relatives, the largest Cambodian family in this Scandinavian country.
