Thailand's former Prime Minister and leader of the Democrat Party(DP — LI Full Member), Abihisit Vejjajiva, has called for greater measures to protect the Thai people from government corruption. Abhisit insists that the DP must establish an anti-corruption website to inform people about the trillions of Bat in government borrowing and the irregularities of its expenditure. Party Leader, Abhisit said: 'Whether it's 10 years from now or 100 years, the party will remain involved with Thai politics, which is plagued by turmoil and conflict. We have to continue to act with righteousness and must be determined to be with Thailand and to be a pillar so that society heads to righteousness'. Under Abhisit, the DP continues its anti-corruption training for youth and promotes the roadmap for development projects initiated by its recently opened institute. As a sign of DP's growing popularity, Bangkok's DP Governor was re-elected with a record number of votes, while Shadow Deputy PM,Kasit Piromya, who spoke out against attempts to intimidate Abhisit, will feature as a speaker at the upcoming 190th LI Executive Committee meeting in Beirut.
