Tat Marina case was used more than once during the debate. The questions that the opposition MPs asked:
/ why did the perpetrator and her accomplices never spent even 1 second in jail?
/ what can guarantee that the law will protect the victims with the current state of impunity?
/ It really is not about how heavy the sentences stipulated in the newly adopted law, it is about Rule of Law.
/ Victims of acid attacks will continue to suffer in silence and the costs of surviving and rebuilding a life will still be on the family as the ruling party MPs f ailed to support the victims/ plea to include the responsibility of the state in the full cost, the life-long coverage for all costs and other services required by the victims of acid attack.
